Grades are calculated in the following way:
World History Advanced Placement (WHAP):
Grading:
Unit tests 25%
Quizzes/Significant in class activities 25%
Essays/DBQ’s 25%
Projects 25%
World Studies and Topics in World Studies:
- Unit tests: 35%
- Projects: 35%
- Classwork and homework: 15%
- Quizzes: 15%
Work will be graded with the following requirements in mind:
- A work (100 – 90) is work that exceeds expectations in all areas of the assignment, shows critical thinking and effort.
- B work (89-80) is work that meets the expectations in all areas of the assignment, shows critical thinking and effort
- C work (79-70) is work that meets basic expectations but shows a lack of critical thought, and / or effort
- D work (69-60) is work that fails to meet expectations and shows a lack of critical thought and/ or effort
- F work (below 60) is work that fails to meet expectations, is incomplete, shows little to no effort.
Final Grade Calculation:
Each quarter is given a weight of 20%. The midterm and final exams are each weighted 10%. Therefore the year is broken down as follows:
- Quarter 1: 20%
- Quarter 2: 20%
- Midterm: 10%
- Quarter 3: 20%
- Quarter 4: 20%
- Final: 10%
= Final Grade Total = 100%
